Joanna's Book: A Mapleshade Memoir

Joanna Miller

  • 1900

The Casselman Valley in the hills of Garrett County, Maryland, provides the backdrop for Joanna’s years—from her earliest memories and into retirement. Her book chronicles life in an Amish-Mennonite home and church and will take you from Yoder School, the one-teacher school where she began her formal education, through college and a teaching career. Joanna’s Book, by description, explanation and stories, tells of creative childhood play of the Miller children, never-ending farm chores, a life enriched by music and the influence of faith and family. (564pp. color illus. Masthof Press, 2024.)

Joanna's Book is a detailed and thoughtful look into Mennonite farm life. I enjoyed the window into history and Anabaptist daily life that it provides. I have always enjoyed the books I order from Masthof!
