The John Hoover covered in this book was one of the first Mennonites to settle near Ringgold in Washington Co., Md. His home was a place of worship for those who formed what was to later become Stouffer's Mennonite Church. The book concludes with his grandson Christian who built the Newcomer Chapel of the United Brethren in Christ Church in Bridgewater, Va.
