This book features the emigration of 16 Swiss men who left their homeland to pursue their destiny in the United States. The stories highlight the emigrants' world of origin, the contexts of their leaving for America including drawbacks and successes, and their varied experience in, and response to, the United States. The accounts show that these men were guided by personal drive and professional goals as well as by circumstance.
