Opening the Rabbinic Doors to the Gospels: An Introduction

Thomas B. Tribelhorn, Ph.D., D.Min.

  • 1495

What do Jewish backgrounds and rabbinic literature have to do with the Gospels? “Everything,” according to one of St. Petersburg Seminary and Yeshiva’s most respected professors.

Based on popular lectures presented by the author at the prestigious 2015 ABA International Archaeology Conference held at the Schönblick Convention Center in Germany, Dr. Tom argues that a comprehensive understanding of the Jewish foundation and framework of the Biblical text is one of the most critical components of Biblical exegesis and textual research. Its longtime neglect has produced numerous mistranslations and misinterpretations, fueling the fires of Biblical criticism and anti-Semitism. In a clear readable format Dr. Tom demonstrates how being true to the time, culture, and spirit of the Jewish foundation and framework of the Bible evaporates many of the so-called contradictions and historical-criticisms. Drawing upon first-century rabbinic sources, unmistakably clear evidence for the deity of Jesus is revealed in the Jewish Targums, the Tetragrammaton, and in the rabbinic linguistics of the Synoptics. A sincere and authentic quest for the historical Jesus begins here.

Join us in restoring the Gospels to their Jewish heritage and historical integrity. Every page is a treasure chest of faith building Biblical illumination. (158pp. illus. index. Masthof Press, 2015.)

THE MISSING LINK
I am so very sad and sorrowful that such a scholarly and exquisite expository work is even "necessary" for the lambs of The Kingdom of God. My "take home" messages are:
1. That the champions for Truth and Light are called to continually be "the voice crying in the wilderness" (Thank you, Dr. Tom!)
2. That satan still IS the father of lies, the prince of darkness and deception who STILL seeks to kill, steal and destroy.
3. That The Light pierceth the darkness, but TRUTH is still "marching on".
4. That greater is He (Yeshua) that is within me than he that is in the world.
5. That "the person without The Spirit does not accept the things that come from The Spirit of God, but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through The Spirit."

I believe Dr. Tom's work is truly "mashach" anointed and wrought with beautiful, firm conviction that obligatorily MUST be "shouted from the rooftops".
The book is truly the "MISSING LINK"......that never should have been needed in the first place.
Shalom

Eye opening--Widening
I fail to understand how people can feel they understand Scripture without understanding its very roots, the Jewish persuasion from which all Scripture is G-d breathed. This excellent book by Dr. Tribelhorn gives us that look into the nuances we formerly had missed but become so into focus in light of their Hebrewness.
As a Sunday school teacher and small group leader I became painfully aware of the incorrect messages I have been sharing with my students and now can prove to them the real His-story found in the Word.
Thank you, Dr. Tom. I await your next book--and the next!
