Included in this book are 477 letters received by Bishop Christian Reesor (Apr. 16, 1833-Dec. 26, 1915) of Markham from members of Mennonite communities in Indiana, Manitoba, Michigan, Ohio, Ontario, and Pennsylvania during the period 1859 to 1915. This collection of letters is a vital window to the past, since Old Order Mennonites did not keep Conference minutes or diaries, so letter collections are often the only source of 19th century records for this conservative group.
