Householders and landholders including landowners and tenants (no distinction made between the two) were listed in the published Third Series of Pennsylvania Archives. Inmates were residents of a household—not a renter—who worked for the landowner. Freemen were single men over the age of 21. This tax list in 1767 included the present-day counties of Berks, Schuylkill, Northumberland (most), Montour, Columbia (part), Lycoming (part), and Clinton (part). (81pp. index.
