That They Might Prosper: An Eighteenth-Century Migration of Hollingers from the Swiss Aargau to Pennsylvania's Lancaster County, via the German Palatinate

Philip Ruth

  • 2500

In this book, historian Philip Ruth reconstructs the life, lineage, and legacy of Swiss-born farmer Jacob Hollinger (c.1701-c.1782), patriarch of a Hollinger clan whose quest for prosperity propelled it from the Bernese Aargau to the German Palatinate in the early 1700s, and later across the Atlantic Ocean to Pennsylvania. Settling in northern Lancaster County in the mid-1700s, Jacob and his sons married women from recently-immigrated Reformed and Lutheran families. (110pp. color illus. index. Masthof Press, 2022.)

Fine book about our Swiss Ancestors
As a Hullinger / Hollinger I was of course interested in this excellent book about our ancestors. We have a lot of information online, but the author is a professional genealogist and provides substantial proof to many of our family legends. I recommend the book.
