Compelling Narrative
Henry writes a compelling narrative that invited me into the turbulent world of the 1960s as seen from an Amish/Mennonite perspective. He also writes a very convincing coming of age story for a young woman, showing us her doubts, her challenges, her decisions and her brush with Pennsylvania Dutch culture. I thoroughly enjoyed it because the author didn't pick sides. He let Yvonne's story unfold in a very natural yet surprising way.

A young nurse struggles with life choices.
In “Yvonne’s Battles” racism, sexual assault, faith choices, friendships and forgiveness are seamlessly woven together to define a young nurse in the 1960’s. The reader may question some of Yvonne’s early choices but will quickly begin to support her. As a lifelong Pennsylvania Mennonite, Mr. Youndt’s knowledge adds credibility to this engaging story.
